MATREX brings offices, residence, exhibition spaces, a transformable hall, restaurant and fitness facilities into a multifunctional building at Skolkovo. Within BERNASKONI Bureau, Inessa Garder led the design of the atrium and ramp space, preparing drawings and coordinating with international contractors.
The continuous exhibition ramp required a wall system that could accommodate media screens and art objects while meeting acoustic, fire, technical and cost requirements. The design developed from a study of perforated rods into an alternative system of removable perforated profiles and acoustic panels.
Each ceiling level has a distinct geometry. Engineering systems, lighting and equipment were coordinated floor by floor while preserving a consistent distribution logic. The project was subsequently presented at the XV Venice Architecture Biennale in 2016.
